Alchemy Stars CN Server Under Fire: Six Consecutive Double-6-Star Events Spark Player Outrage Over Aggressive Monetization

In a corner no one was paying attention to, a gacha game that once enjoyed a solid reputation is now facing a wave of player backlash — Alchemy Stars' CN server has been called out on NGA forums over six consecutive double-6-star banner events.

According to the original post's tally, up to the "Night and Fog Shadow" event, the CN server has launched 12 events (excluding Dream Realm modes, with split top/bottom events counted separately), 8 of which featured double-6-star banners. "Night and Fog Shadow" marks the sixth consecutive double-6 event, completely breaking the international server's alternating single-6 and double-6 rhythm. At the same time, this event converted international server battle pass skins into direct-purchase skins and inserted future battle pass skins into the current pass ahead of schedule. Combined with the earlier nerf to the 9-RMB weekly card and the absence of any other high-value packages over the past half year, the operation's sincerity has been heavily questioned by the community.

The comment section erupted immediately with the soul-searching question: "Doesn't the CN server barely have any players left?" This seemingly casual remark was met with a razor-sharp reply: "Isn't that exactly why they're cranking up the cash-grab intensity — squeeze whatever's left?" Another player piled on: "The devs are only this brazen because they know players won't leave. Just look at what happened with another certain gacha game."

Long-time players also reminisced about the game's early days: "People said the same thing at launch, but the CN server actually improved rewards and the devs were quick to respond to backlash — reputation went up, and player count surpassed the global server. Now? It's the same old story of milking the player base dry."

What worries hardcore players even more is the upcoming Chinese New Year period. A deep-dive analysis pointed out that the international server has always alternated between single-6 and double-6 events, but the CN server's rush to catch up and add synced global events has created a situation where double-6 follows double-6, leaving no room for single-6 events. One character from the previous event that could have been saved for Chinese New Year was instead moved forward to accompany a new character, "meaning there's likely a hidden character planned for the Lunar New Year." The player concluded: "I don't believe a single character can carry the weight of such a critical revenue period."

As for Tencent's role as the game's publisher, players hold zero expectations. One bluntly said, "What do you even expect from Tencent's management?" Another quipped, "Big publishers have absurdly high kill thresholds — if revenue dips even slightly, they pull the plug. With Alchemy Stars in its current state, they'll squeeze every last cent, and the moment it stops working, they'll shut it down overnight." Some players have already made their decision: "If you're still playing after seeing this, why aren't you running? It's obvious they're cashing out. I'm leaving after the holiday season."

Beyond the banner fatigue, players have also listed other grievances: "The 'Enlightenment' mode is garbage and they refuse to fix it, but double-6 banners drop like clockwork. Not only are gacha resources stingy, they even nerfed double-stamina events and pre-event farming materials." Art quality has also been questioned — "After a key artist left, the visual quality visibly tanked." As for the game's future, the pessimists have already delivered their verdict: "Without a major gameplay overhaul, this game is just dying slowly."
