miHoYo Allegedly Imposes Exclusivity Clause on Sponsored Creators: Ban on Wuthering Waves Content Causes Top Bilibili UP Masters to Go Silent

0 热度

When one creator avoids covering a new game, it's a personal choice. When an entire roster of top creators suddenly avoids it too — now that's a story. Multiple sources are now pointing to one explosive rumor: miHoYo has allegedly inserted an "exclusivity clause" into its sponsorship contracts, barring contracted Bilibili UP masters (content creators) from accepting any deals, ads, or livestream collaborations related to specific competing titles.

The most direct source is Bilibili creator Li Fan Jian Shangjia (B站 UID: 1254261616), who explicitly mentioned this ban in a video and stated that there is currently only one game on the blacklist. While no name was dropped directly, the context makes it overwhelmingly clear the game in question is Kuro Games' Wuthering Waves (鸣潮). Another lead comes from the S1 forum's Wuthering Waves megathread, where a user named "Wo Wei Ban Zhuan Kuang" (我为板砖狂) — who has a track record of accurate leaks — made similar claims, further boosting the rumor's credibility.

Beyond direct testimony, there's a compelling piece of circumstantial evidence: alleged screenshots of miHoYo's actual contract terms have surfaced overseas. Even more suspicious is the behavior of top-tier creators in the weeks before Wuthering Waves' official launch. Creators like Kataya — one of the biggest miHoYo-connected UP masters — publicly announced they would not be making any Wuthering Waves content. A group of creators known for chasing every scrap of traffic suddenly deciding to sit out one of the most anticipated gacha launches of the year? That doesn't pass the smell test.

The NGA comments section went absolutely feral. One top reply nailed it: "Well well well, looks like the 'cyber chastity lock' (赛博贞操锁) is now miHoYo's thing too" — a savage callback to when miHoYo stans used the exact same phrase to attack other companies for exclusivity practices. The irony writes itself: the boomerang has come full circle. Other commenters piled on with "chastity lock with a virginity seal" and "miHoYo leading the way in unlocking chastity belts" — dripping with sarcasm.

One commenter offered a more analytical take: "They're probably trying to strangle Wuthering Waves' fan-creation pipeline. miHoYo can tolerate another action game, but they don't want to see a polished IP grow into a real rival." This interpretation suggests the ban isn't just about direct competition — it's about controlling the entire content ecosystem to starve a competitor of the grassroots marketing that gacha games live and die by.

Not everyone was convinced, though. Skeptics pointed out that the evidence largely consists of one creator's claims. "I don't see any proof — isn't this just one UP master talking? Why's everyone freaking out?" wrote one user. Another offered a practical litmus test: "Just see who livestreams Wuthering Waves and who doesn't. If lots of people stream it, then the whole thing was nonsense." Though given the current silence from top creators, that test seems poised to deliver a verdict sooner rather than later.

Some users also drew parallels to Tencent's infamous "Firefly Plan" (萤火计划), which was previously exposed for similar exclusivity clauses in gaming content creator contracts. Others raised the economic fairness angle: "Sony exclusives pay extra for the restriction — is miHoYo at least compensating creators for this?" The implication being that miHoYo wants to control creators' creative freedom without offering fair compensation, which is a bad look by any standard.

For now, everything remains in the realm of "multiple leaks + circumstantial evidence," with miHoYo officially silent. But as Wuthering Waves' launch approaches, the truth will reveal itself through creator behavior. As one commenter put it bluntly: "We'll know in a week." And when that week is up, the question of whether miHoYo's alleged 'cyber chastity lock' is real or just internet folklore will finally have its answer.
