Snowbreak Producer Goes on Zhihu to Debunk Fake Revenue Data — Gets Raided by Angry Ex-Players of His Company's Dead Game

0 热度

A game producer tries to debunk fake revenue numbers, and accidentally triggers an all-out raid from the grieving fanbase of his own company's dead game. You literally cannot write this kind of plot twist.

It all started when the producer of Snowbreak: Containment Zone (尘白禁区) took to Zhihu — China's version of Quora — to publicly call out a certain revenue report, saying the numbers were "ridiculously inaccurate" and potentially misleading to players. From the screenshots shared by the original poster, the producer was blunt and direct in questioning the data's legitimacy.

The OP wasn't sure which specific data source the producer was referring to, guessing it might be from "二观" (Erguan), a popular Chinese mobile game revenue tracker. However, other users dug up the likely source — a Bilibili content creator called "我在地球打酱油" (I'm Just Passing Time on Earth).

According to NGA community analysis, the disputed data was indeed absurd. Erguan's own estimates put Snowbreak's mobile revenue at over 10 million RMB for March, while this questionable report showed numbers that were basically slashed in half. One commenter pointed out that according to "xsj流水哥" (allegedly a Seasun insider), April mobile revenue was also over 26 million RMB — again, massively underreported by the disputed source. As one user put it bluntly: "You can basically call it complete bullsh*t."

But here's where things got spicy. The revenue dispute turned out to be just the appetizer. The real bombshell was dropped when the producer mentioned in his Zhihu comments that data related to Dual Borders (双生视界) — another game by the same developer, Seasun/Xishanju — was stored with Bilibili, and that without this, Seasun could have kept the game's servers running.

That single comment turned the entire comment section into a warzone. Hordes of former Dual Borders players flooded in, transforming what was supposed to be a simple debunking into a full-blown revenge mob. One commenter wrote: "Now the million Dual Borders players know exactly who to blame." Another added: "This is the real bombshell... How does Bilibili's game operations team manage to be this scummy?"

Users familiar with the backstory noted that anyone who's ever dealt with Bilibili's gaming division "knows exactly what kind of people they're dealing with." One player even went as far as saying: "Now the players know who to blame for killing their beloved game" — using the dramatic Chinese expression "杀妻之仇" (literally: the vengeance of one's wife being murdered), which gives you an idea of just how deep the resentment runs.

Looking at the whole saga, the producer originally just wanted to set the record straight on some inaccurate revenue numbers. But one offhand mention of Dual Borders data completely derailed the conversation and put Bilibili's operations team on trial instead. As one commenter perfectly summarized: "The producer must be pretty surprised that so many Dual Borders players showed up in his comment section." As for which source published the disputed revenue data and why — that remains unclear. But one thing is certain: the grudge between Dual Borders players and Bilibili is far from settled.
