15 Million Pulls Crack Honkai: Star Rail's Gacha — Actual Rates Higher Than Stated, Possibly a Dev Data Entry Error

0 热度

A brute-force test of 15 million pulls just exposed Honkai: Star Rail's gacha system — and the twist? Actual drop rates are HIGHER than what the game officially states. Yes, you read that right.

The whole thing started when a Bilibili content creator compiled massive amounts of player pull data — 15 million samples in total — and discovered that the character banner's 50/50 (小保底, or "soft pity" win rate) actually hits around 56%, significantly above the stated 50%. The light cone (weapon) banner similarly came in at ~78% versus the stated 75%.

But here's where it gets spicy. Community math wizards on NGA proposed a theory that's almost too elegant: a developer likely made a data entry error and accidentally placed the rate-up (UP) character into the standard (permanent) pool as well. Under this model, when a player loses the 50/50 coinflip, there's still a 1-in-8 chance of pulling the UP character from the "standard" pool. The math checks out perfectly: 0.5 + 0.5×0.125 = 0.5625, matching the observed 56%. For light cones: 0.75 + 0.25×0.125 = 0.78125, aligning with the 78% figure. In other words, a simple spreadsheet mistake accidentally buffed everyone's gacha luck.

One small detail worth noting: the original post initially stated the light cone banner's official rate was "85%" instead of the correct 75%, which multiple commenters quickly called out. After correction, someone rightfully asked: "Can editors please mark their changes? What about the people who already commented on the wrong numbers?" — a valid complaint in any forum.

The NGA comment section split into predictable factions. Sarcastic praise rolled in: "Wow, I'm so touched — miHoYo secretly boosted our rates, what a generous company!" and "Supporting the world's #1 game studio in leading the price cut revolution!" Others tried to be the voice of reason: "The rates are higher than stated, so why is everyone still raging?" — to which the reply was a blunt: "Because haters never use their brains."

Of course, the classic miHoYo gacha meme "0.98" (a reference to a past probability controversy in another HoYoverse title) got wheeled out too, with commenters citing it as proof that "fake probabilities are standard practice for miHoYo." Though in this particular case, the discrepancy actually benefits players rather than shafting them.

As of this writing, miHoYo has not issued any official response. While higher-than-advertised rates might seem like a win for players, the fact remains that the stated probabilities don't match reality — and that's a transparency issue regardless of which direction the numbers skew. This time players got lucky with a beneficial bug. But the question lingers: what about next time?
