Wuhua Mixin Caught Censoring Character Art — Cleavage Erased, Bust Nerfed 2-3 Cup Sizes, Community Accuses Devs of Caving to 'Feminist' Pressure

One character art, two very different versions — and the only direction the changes went was 'cover up.' Players have exposed that Wuhua Mixin's character 'Cute Bouquet' (可爱花束) had her official artwork quietly censored before launch, and the community is losing it.

The whole thing started when a Bilibili content creator compiled the beta-test character art — the same versions used across all promotional channels — and compared them side-by-side with the officially released versions. The differences were impossible to miss.

The original poster laid out three specific changes: First, the base illustration's chest area was crudely painted over in white, literally erasing the cleavage like someone slapped white paint over it. Second, the ascended (升阶) illustration's bust was noticeably shrunk — comparing the proportions, players estimated a 2-3 cup size reduction. Third, the skirt was lengthened, the see-through fabric effect was removed, and even the knees became invisible. The whole thing also got a pink-tinted filter slapped on top, pushing the character's overall vibe further into 'safe mode.'

The poster acknowledged that tweaking the ascended art's proportions for aesthetics is one thing, but the base illustration's 'literally paint over the cleavity' approach was too blatant to swallow. In the Chinese gacha game community, this kind of censorship has become so overused that it's basically a meme at this point — 'we've seen it a thousand times already.'

Beyond the art changes themselves, the post dug up an ongoing controversy around Wuhua Mixin's alleged 'government backing.' The game uses a cultural heritage personification (文物拟人) theme, and there have been long-standing community rumors that the devs have connections to official cultural institutions. The poster mentioned a now-uncertain claim about a Sichuan-based cultural heritage organization investing in the project years ago (unverified, with some players noting it was old news). The poster's verdict? 'Bro, your connections aren't as strong as Huangji' (黄鸡, the nickname for Manjuu/Yostar, the devs behind Azur Lane who are known for holding their ground against censorship pressure).

The top comments zeroed in on the real tension. One player predicted the inevitable 'the censored version looks better' copium, then questioned who the actual target audience is: 'The devs should care about their target demographic — do they really think their target audience are the kind of people who crusade over cleavage?' Another player shot back even harder: 'This game's target audience might genuinely be exactly those people.'

One player delivered a devastating debuff checklist: domestic developer, strategy game (战棋), heritage-themed characters, 'mixed toilet' (混厕 — slang for trying to appeal to both male and female audiences simultaneously, satisfying neither), censored artwork. 'Almost maxed out on red flags. Respect and blessings, I guess.' Then added the final blow: 'Oh wait, forgot the biggest one — Bilibili operations.' For those unfamiliar, Bilibili's game publishing arm has a notorious reputation in the Chinese gaming community for poor management decisions.

Another complaint came from a design perspective: the lengthened upper skirt hem, combined with how it bisects the upper body, makes the character's waist look wider and stubbier. Players argued the devs didn't just cover up the cleavage — they butchered the original artist's carefully crafted proportions. 'The original character designer must be heartbroken.' There was also discussion about the ornate headpiece looking out of place, with one player posting the actual artifact photo that inspired the design — confirming it was based on a real relic, but arguing it still doesn't look good on the character.

A few players took the 'doesn't matter' stance, arguing that anyone still playing and spending money clearly doesn't care about these changes. But more players pointed out that the cleavage issue is just the tip of the iceberg — 'the facial expression, pose, and outfit design are still going to get roasted,' suggesting the problems go far deeper than one or two edited illustrations.

As of the original post, the developers had not issued any public response. But judging by the community reaction, Wuhua Mixin's reputation on the already niche 'heritage-themed gacha' track is facing a serious credibility test. When your character art isn't even 'anime enough' for the gacha community, you have to wonder — who exactly are you making this game for?
