Duoyi Network Boss Xu Bo's Controversial Past Resurfaces on NGA: 'Anti-Feminist Hero' or 'Feudal Tyrant Who Despises the Poor'?
How unhinged can a gaming company CEO get? When someone tried to label him an 'anti-feminist warrior,' NGA users hit back with a laundry list of receipts — contempt for the poor, forced pay cuts, surrogacy scandals involving over a dozen children overseas, and a child reportedly dying from a nanny's negligence. This isn't a power fantasy novel — this is the real-life circus of China's gaming industry.
A Bilibili video compilation by creator 'Shi Lao Guai' (石老怪) about Duoyi Network's boss Xu Bo (online alias 'Zhou Zhou' 煮肘, real name Xu Youzhen) was recently shared on NGA. The original poster said they found the video interesting and wanted to share. But even the OP later admitted the title was 'slightly clickbait' and changed it — because the comment section ended up being far more explosive than the video itself.
Some background on Duoyi Network: they're best known for the Shenwu (神武) MMO series. According to commenters, Duoyi's March 2024 revenue surprisingly exceeded that of Hypergryph (Arknights) and Lilith Games. What makes it ironic is that Duoyi also runs gacha waifu games — as one player put it with surgical precision: 'In-game, the anime girls wave at you saying come spend money, I like you~; out of the game, the CEO waves you away saying poor losers don't deserve to reproduce.'
The comment section quickly split into warring camps. One user tried to defend Xu Bo, claiming 'he did absolutely demolish the feminists though' — and immediately got dogpiled.
Someone dropped historical screenshots as receipts: 'Didn't Zhou Zhou trash-talk poor people all the time?' — complete with multiple old forum posts where Xu Bo mocked lower-income players back in the day on the Mengxiang Shijie (Dream World) forums. Another top-voted reply went for the jugular: 'Love how the so-called anti-feminist warrior Xu Youzhen got his 300 million RMB milked by a woman' — a reference to Xu Bo's ex reportedly walking away with roughly 300 million yuan in a settlement, despite his vocal anti-feminist stance.
Then came the truly disturbing allegations. One commenter claimed: 'He had over a dozen children through surrogacy in America. One of them died — reportedly strangled due to a nanny's negligence — and he didn't care at all. Local child welfare authorities took all his kids away to foster care.' The same commenter added: 'The one who died was a boy, by the way. Your so-called male rights hero doesn't let his sons go to school or inherit anything — he basically treats them like backyard pets.' To be clear, these are unverified community allegations, not confirmed facts.
Beyond his personal life, Xu Bo's corporate management has drawn heavy criticism too. One commenter noted that 'Boss Xu really did force employees into "voluntary" pay cuts.' Others recalled incidents of him mocking players in-game who couldn't afford 1.5 RMB per day for subscription fees — roughly $0.20.
As for attempts to rebrand Xu Bo as some kind of 'men's rights hero,' the NGA consensus was brutally unanimous: 'Men's rights warrior? This guy is a feudal lunatic who considers everyone poorer than him subhuman.' 'A pre-modern feudal conservative is now being called a men's rights champion? Political ideology really is a circle.' 'You think you're in a position to empathize with HIM? He wouldn't even look at you.'
As one commenter neatly summed up the whole situation: 'After digging through everything he's done, all I see is a mutual beatdown between him and the radical feminists — they deserve each other.' The debate around Xu Bo was never really about gender wars — it was a wake-up call to check exactly who you're idolizing before crowning anyone a 'hero.'
