NIKKE Caught Red-Handed AGAIN — Anniversary Pilgrim 'Crown' Burst CD Was 40s Instead of 20s Shown in Livestream, Official Account Speed-Deletes After Backlash

It's NIKKE, and it's another facepalm moment. Just when players thought the devs couldn't repeat last anniversary's fiasco — where the Pilgrim unit 'Red Hood' was demoed at one power level in the livestream but shipped noticeably weaker — the half-anniversary is already here with an encore performance.

On April 22nd around 5:10 PM, the official NIKKE Japanese Twitter account posted the skill details for the upcoming anniversary Pilgrim unit 'Crown,' set to drop three days later.

Sharp-eyed players spotted the problem almost immediately: Crown's Burst skill cooldown was listed as 40 seconds. The livestream gameplay demo clearly showed 20 seconds. For context, NIKKE's combat revolves around a 1→2→3 position Burst chain that takes exactly 20 seconds per rotation. A 40-second cooldown means Crown could only Burst every OTHER cycle — effectively halving her damage output for a top-tier Pilgrim rarity unit. Unacceptable.

The Japanese Twitter comments went nuclear in minutes.

Then a Korean player dropped what the community calls a 'poop announcement' (拉屎预告) — a cryptic but unmistakable warning that signals a potential truck protest is being organized. For the uninitiated, Korean gamers are famous for physically showing up at game company headquarters with protest trucks, and 'announcing a bathroom trip' is dark humor code for 'we're coming for you.' One NGA commenter quipped, 'Based on my experience with Korean gamers, they absolutely WILL organize a truck rally over a 20-second cooldown difference.' Another added, 'Send more people — make the NIKKE staff do the Michael Jackson dance outside the bathroom.'

Facing the mounting backlash, NIKKE's official response was swift — but not in the way you'd hope. The JP account speed-deleted the tweet. Even more hilariously, the KR account posted the same stats ten minutes later, realized the mistake, and also nuked it. An internationally coordinated deletion operation, truly impressive.

Thankfully, the fix came relatively fast. By 6:04 PM, players reported that Crown's Burst CD had been corrected back to 20 seconds.

But the reason this blew up so hard is that NIKKE is basically a repeat offender at this point. During last year's 1st anniversary livestream, the Pilgrim unit 'Red Hood' was showcased dealing massive damage. After release, players mathematically proved the actual numbers didn't match the demo, sparking a massive community meltdown (炎上). The devs ultimately buffed Red Hood, which — combined with her story relevance — made her the strongest DPS unit for the next six months and the #1 character in the popularity poll.

One player summed it up perfectly: 'There's no way they'd actually set an anniversary character's Burst CD to 40s. Either this was rage-bait marketing or a genuine typo. But no matter what happens, it's always the NIKKE players who suffer (福报).' Another veteran was more blunt: 'SU's recent string of operations has been absolutely stinky — the Re:Zero collab was underwhelming everywhere, the cheerleader event story flopped even as filler content, and now they're caught trying to stealth-nerf numbers (not even the first time). The player base they spent months winning back is about to walk out again.'

And the Crown CD drama isn't even the whole story. Players digging into the half-anniversary plans uncovered the monetization: TWO gacha-wheel skins (one for Goddess squad's Scarlet, one for Crown) plus TWO battle pass skins (Snow White and Diesel). Each wheel skin costs roughly $60 / ¥400 RMB — that's over ¥800 if you want both. Players erupted: 'Q2 KPI pressure hitting hard, milking the half-anniversary dry, huh?' One commenter nailed it: 'With Tencent money backing them, SU is going to squeeze every last yuan out of players.'

Crown's stats have now been corrected to match the livestream version, but this incident has once again exposed NIKKE's chaotic disconnect between 'hype-building livestreams' and 'actual release content.' Two bait-and-switch incidents in one year — intentional or not — is a fast track to eroding whatever trust remains. As for those gacha wheel skins... godspeed to your wallets, Commanders.
