Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2's New Male Character Model Slammed as 'NPC-Tier Ugly' — Players Roast miHoYo's Aesthetic Downfall, Point Out 'Chest Window with a Beauty Mark' as the Final Straw

miHoYo's tradition of introducing 'green-themed Chinese-style pretty boys' strikes again — this time it's Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2 in the crosshairs. Screenshots of a new male character model from the latest story update leaked online, and the NGA forums erupted like a raid boss aggro-ing the entire server.

The OP posted this model screenshot with a plea: since HI3 had already sent out surveys about releasing playable male characters and the female character banners have been flopping revenue-wise, why not rush this guy out to save the bottom line? Well, that suggestion aged like milk the second the comments rolled in.

The top-voted reply fired the opening salvo: 'Impressive — I thought the Demon King model was peak ugly, but apparently there's a new champion.' The second floor escalated immediately: 'What is this thing? It's neither male nor female.' A third commenter cut straight to the bone: 'How is it this ugly... and where are the dragon elements? You can't have a Chinese wind-themed guy without a dragon!' — calling out the design for failing at the most basic level of its own aesthetic.

Another player gave a more precise verdict on the ugliness: 'This is NPC-tier — looks like a random overworld dude from Genshin who just changed clothes.' The seventh-floor soul interrogation was the real kicker: 'This is supposed to be a guy? Why does the model look like a flat-chested middle-aged woman?'

Floor 8 delivered what can only be described as a manifesto. This player went scorched earth on miHoYo's recent design philosophy: 'It's either androgynous to the point of confusion, fundoshi loincloths, chest windows, or random patches of fabric — is this really how you cater to female players?' They then dropped the ultimate ultimatum: if you can't even get your core competency (anime aesthetics) right anymore, 'go ahead and remove the "Tech Otaku" tagline from your logo.' The post also included a community-reworked version of the model, an attempt to salvage what miHoYo gave us.

But the funniest detail came from floor 10: 'They didn't even forget to put a beauty mark on the chest window.' The commenter helpfully attached a side-by-side comparison image that raises the inevitable question — is this even the same character? The disconnect between the face and body is painfully obvious.

The controversy goes deeper than just 'ugly model.' Players started connecting the dots to Honkai: Star Rail, pointing out that this character's debut cutscene mirrors Dan Heng's iconic scene — an identical dark dungeon, chain-imprisonment setup. Floor 13 confirmed: 'The face really does look like Imbibitor Lunae (Dan Heng's dragon form), plus the classic green Chinese wind-boy template.' Floor 15 asked the question everyone was thinking: 'Wait, is this literally a Dan Heng variant?' — dragging miHoYo's cross-game character recycling problem back into the spotlight.

Floors 16 through 18 turned the roast into dark comedy. One player complained about the shoulders and face looking like a generic NPC, only to get instantly clapped back: 'Maybe it IS an NPC' — implying nobody should get their hopes up for this being a major character. Floor 17's 'Don't let this model go to waste — when's it becoming playable?' dripped with heavy sarcasm.

Floor 19 closed the thread with a blunt, expletive-laden outburst that, while crude, captures the collective frustration of a significant chunk of the playerbase. From Honkai Star Rail to Honkai Impact 3rd, the 'green Chinese wind boy' has become a full-blown meme, and the debate over miHoYo's declining model quality continues to rage on.
