A game producer hits a single 'like' button on Weibo, and NGA's gossip board erupts into an all-out ideological slugfest. Just another day in the Chinese gaming community.
On March 28, 2024, a user on NGA's gossip section broke the news: YuZhong (羽中), the producer behind the Girls' Frontline series, was caught liking a post from a controversial Weibo blogger known as 'HeiQiang' (黑枪, literally 'Black Gun'). The revelation instantly became a lightning rod.

So who is HeiQiang? According to the NGA comments, this is a fairly well-known Weibo blogger whose political leanings are considered pro-Israel or Western-sympathetic — a stance that doesn't sit well with China's online nationalist crowd. However, some commenters pushed back on the outrage, pointing out that the account 'HeiQiang' was mainly known as an anti-West blogger, and 'as long as he hasn't done a complete 180 recently, he's definitely not a traitor.'
Another helpful user dug up the specific post YuZhong had liked — from the screenshot, it appeared to be an international affairs analysis piece.

The comments quickly split into warring factions. One user went straight for the jugular: 'If he's a Zionist sympathizer, then why is he also liking posts from the old establishment crowd? Are some daddies more important than other daddies?' — implying YuZhong's ideological allegencies were contradictory. That comment got itself punished by moderators.
The punished user doubled down in a follow-up: 'Patriotic-boy YuZhong likes the old establishment, the old establishment despises patriotic-boy YuZhong, and NGA's nationalists look down on both. LOL.' This single comment managed to roast YuZhong, the blogger, AND NGA's nationalist crowd all at once — true AoE (area-of-effect) damage.
Not everyone was here for the drama, though. One user called out the original poster for being sensationalist: 'You didn't even explain who this blogger is or what the post says. You just slapped a screenshot down like a sasaeng fan stalking an idol.' The OP's response? 'Yep, you got me — I'm an extremist.'
Other commenters took a more comedic angle. 'Seems like he's really not in a rush — still has time to scroll Weibo. Time to fire up the "company resources being wasted" discourse,' one quipped, suggesting the GFL team might not be busy enough if their producer has time for Weibo drama. Another marveled: 'I never thought I'd see HeiQiang mentioned on NGA's gossip board,' highlighting the unusual collision of gaming forums and political commentary.
There was even a follow-up development. Someone shared a screenshot allegedly showing HeiQiang's response to the situation, though the person who posted it admitted they 'don't have Weibo and couldn't verify if it's real.' Another commenter joked: 'Congratulations on receiving the Noble Producer's stamp of approval.'

One user went to verify on Weibo and confirmed that HeiQiang had indeed set their account to followers-only visibility — a small footnote to cap off the drama. As one commenter summarized: 'If this is real, it's not surprising — the whole pro-Israel/pro-West thing is pretty well-known at this point.'
As of the original post, producer YuZhong himself has not commented on any of this. For GFL fans, the real question isn't whether their producer has questionable Weibo habits — it's whether the team is actually focused on making their game.
