The plagiarism war between Onmyoji and Honor of Kings has reached levels of absurdity that the Chinese mobile gaming community has literally never seen before. After Onmyoji (developed by NetEase's Zen Studio) accused Honor of Kings of copying their designs, HoK's official account allegedly fired back with four ominous characters — "斩尽诸恶" (Slay All Evils) — a pointed, tongue-in-cheek jab that sent the community into a frenzy.

But here's where it gets wild: this was supposed to be a standard two-fandom war, yet the plot completely derailed. The top-voted comment on NGA set the tone immediately — "Most I've ever supported Nongyao (HoK's community nickname). Onmyoji should hand over Zen Studio to TiMi as an apology." Another player summed it up: "What a vicious compensation package."
The comment section erupted with people who wanted to roast BOTH sides. One user cut straight to the point: "The funniest part is that both fanbases agree it's plagiarism, but both fanbases are trash-talking Onmyoji's Zen Studio. Wonder why." When two sides that should be tearing into each other suddenly unite against a common enemy, that enemy might want to do some soul-searching.
There was also heated debate about whether HoK should have responded at all. The nays argued: "Why even reply? Now Zen gets to clout-chase off this again. The pig farm (NetEase's derogatory nickname) loves riding coattails." But a defender shot back: "Previously with Ni Shui Han it was just minor sabotage, but now Origin Master (Onmyoji) is literally splashing mud and spreading lies — and we're supposed to stay silent?" Apparently Zen has a track record of pulling stunts like this, and this time they pushed TiMi past the breaking point.
Comment #4 delivered the line of the year: "Don't worry Zen, even if the whole world roasts you, we Onmyoji players will support the whole world." When your OWN players publicly side against you, you know your studio's reputation is in the gutter. Others were spamming "When will Onmyoji apologize to Honor of Kings?" seven times in a row — a testament to how deep the grudge runs.
One peacemaker tried to de-escalate — "You three (HoK, Onmyoji, and Zen) should just focus on living your best lives" — but the very next comment, "Seeing everyone roast Zen just makes my day," pulled the vibe right back into comedy roast mode. Some were even connecting this to a previous Tian Dao (天涯明月刀) crossover incident, saying the "Slay All Evils" tagline was a nod to a similar meme about 'slaying the pigs,' and urged HoK to just name-drop Zen directly instead of being cryptic.
As of this writing, the plagiarism accusation has fully transformed into a community-wide dunk-on-Zen-Studio fest. Two rival fanbases joining forces is genuinely unprecedented in the gacha/mobile gaming scene. Some off-topic commenters had already moved on, but the Zen roasts show no sign of stopping — and most players are already bracing for Round 3.
