Tencent's DNF Mobile Hypes Q2 Launch by Calling All Copycats "Literal Trash" — Players Fire Back: "Isn't LOL Just a DOTA-LIKE?"

0 热度

Tencent officially announced that DNF Mobile (Dungeon & Fighter Mobile) will launch in Q2 — great news for fans who've been waiting years for this long-delayed gacha adaptation. But the marketing team apparently decided a release date alone wasn't spicy enough, so they dropped this bomb in the promo materials: "All imitators are literal trash." NGA's comment section instantly erupted into an absolute roasting session.

On its own, the statement isn't exactly wrong — most DNF clones in the PC gaming space did get outlasted and eventually died out. Commenters in replies 1 and 2 agreed: "Fair point, trash really is trash." But coming from Tencent, the hypocrisy practically writes itself.

The most devastating blow came from reply 8, who went absolutely nuclear: "You have the audacity to coin 'DNF-LIKE'? Then why don't you call your own League of Legends a 'DOTA-LIKE'?!" Brutal language, but the logic is airtight — LOL borrowed heavily from DOTA's formula, and Tencent knows it. Reply 9 twisted the knife further by invoking Tencent's infamous old marketing slogan "made by the original DOTA team" — a claim that was already controversial years ago.

Even more embarrassing, reply 7 brought up Alard's Wrath (阿拉德之怒), a DNF clone that once got so popular that Tencent allegedly pressured it out of existence. The fact that Tencent actively crushed a competitor they were jealous of, then turns around to mock all imitators? That's peak corporate amnesia.

DNF PC veterans weren't about to let Tencent off the hook either. Reply 11 came in with receipts — a screenshot of their own character — declaring "PC players know DNF itself is trash right now, what face do you have to mock others?" Reply 12 doubled down with flex energy: "Your stats are kinda mid, my alt has 400 more fame than you" — using in-game power creep to prove the point that the original game is in rough shape.

Reply 16 had a sharp observation: "Tencent's marketing is starting to smell just like NetEase's — absolute unhinged behavior. Tencent and NetEase, 99 (猪鹅99, a mocking blessing for the two gaming giants to be together forever)." Reply 17 delivered the ultimate logical paradox: "If all imitators are trash, that means they copied too faithfully — so what does that make the original?" The reverse uno card hits different.

Finally, reply 19 offered the ultimate advice: "The CN version got censored to 12+ and is itself garbage — just play the original Korean server." The China version of DNF has been notoriously watered down for age-rating compliance, which makes the superiority complex even more laughable.

Tencent's marketing team tried to flex their "one true DNF" status, only to get absolutely bodied by players wielding Tencent's own shady history and the current sorry state of DNF PC. Moral of the story: you can hype yourself up, but don't trash the competition — especially when you've got skeletons of your own in the closet.
