Wuthering Waves Allegedly Pushed to July — Players Can't Tell Real from Fake, Gender War Erupts Over 'No Males' Boycott

0 热度

One screenshot from an alleged Android app store listing was all it took to blow up the entire Wuthering Waves community — this time, the date shown is July 15.

This wouldn't be the first rumored release date for Wuthering Waves. Earlier leaks on Douyin (China's TikTok) suggested April, then the date shifted to May 5, and now it's jumped to mid-July. The constant delays are wearing down players' patience. One commenter lamented, 'What a shame, I wanted to watch the coffin nailed shut sooner' — yes, many people aren't waiting to play, they're waiting to watch the drama unfold.

However, the authenticity of the screenshot itself became the first point of contention. Players quickly pointed out the image was likely photoshopped — apparently debunked earlier that same day. A highly upvoted comment went further: 'I'm starting to suspect this is community management (社管, shèguǎn — a term for game companies' community operations teams) trying to keep the hype alive' — implying the devs might be fabricating leaks to maintain buzz around the game.

That said, whether this particular screenshot is fake or not, Wuthering Waves' release date has genuinely been shuffled around multiple times. As one player noted: 'Just enjoy the show, dates can change anytime. Farming Simulator 2 changed its iOS date three times.'

What truly set the comments section on fire was the game's core controversy — the gender ratio of its playable characters. Ever since its development phase, Wuthering Waves has faced backlash over character gender distribution. The 'no males' (有男不玩, yǒu nán bù wán) boycott movement has been gaining traction, and this latest delay discussion became a lightning rod for the gender war to reignite.

One camp demands all male characters be removed, pushing for an all-waifu open-world gacha. The other side fired back sarcastically: 'Can we delete the female characters instead? An all-husbaNDo open-world game would be a totally unique niche.' Then came the ultimate shitpost take: 'No males, no females — I want to play the first LGBT+ game for young people.'

Opinions on the delay itself were also split. Some believe Kuro Games might genuinely be overhauling the game before launch: 'Are they actually trying to change things? No way! I want to see the mixed-gender mess explode right now!' — 'mixed-gender mess' (混厕, hùncè) being community slang for games that cater to both male and female player demographics, used as a derogatory term. Others think it's just a stalling tactic: 'Another 4 months to read the room on the "no males" boycott? Do they think male and female players will just hold hands and make up?'

As for the July 15 date, most players are taking a wait-and-see approach. One commenter wisely noted: 'Can't see it on iOS yet — are Android store listings even reliable?' Fair point — app store dates can be changed at any time. But in a community where the release timeline has been jerked around this much, even the slightest whisper is enough to trigger an earthquake.
