Blue Archive is getting an anime adaptation — and judging by the NGA comment section, this 'good news' came wrapped in a full-blown community war.

Based on the official site and community discussion, the anime will be produced by Yostar Pictures, adapting Main Story Vol.1 across 12 episodes at 30 minutes each. The player character "Sensei" (老师) is confirmed to appear, and Arona's voice actress has already been cast — one commenter even posted screenshots from the official website as proof.
But the moment the production details dropped, veterans were already hitting the panic button. One commenter bluntly noted that the studio barely has any major productions under its belt and the director's resume is underwhelming — suggesting everyone temper their expectations hard. Another was even more ruthless: Yostar's animation capabilities are common knowledge at this point, so reaching "daily slice-of-life" quality would already count as a victory.
What truly ignited the community wasn't production quality though — it was the yuri shippers (referred to as "白河豚" or "white pufferfish" by players) aggressively pushing their agenda everywhere. According to one commenter, multiple NGA sections — the NGA monkey zone, BA sub-forum, and mobile game general — already had threads locked and banned due to the ensuing flame wars. The core conflict: yuri fans spamming BL/CP content across the board, triggering massive pushback from the waifu purist camp.
The comment section's hostility level was absolutely nuclear. One user blasted: "Yuri fans are disgusting, like cockroaches — you can't stomp them all out no matter where you look." Another went even harder: "If the anime goes yuri, it just proves yuri fans worldwide are all the same — creepy, obsessive terminally online degenerates." A third took a different angle entirely: "Both the yuri pushers AND the yuri hunters can all get lost. Everyone just die. None of you belong here."
The most prophetic exchange came when someone brought up the Princess Connect (PCR) anime as a cautionary tale, asking if waifu purists would lose it if the BA anime went the yuri route. The reply was savage and concise: "Great, get ready for another round of the devs getting publicly nuked. Another backstab of the waifu community."
One commenter expressed full confidence in the BA community's anti-yuri combat readiness: "This community has never gone easy on yuri fans. I trust their hunting capabilities — everyone here holds a certified pufferfish-handling license." Others took a wider view, with one noting that dedicated yuri games like Heaven Burns Red already exist, yet yuri fans insist on "sh*tting everywhere" — concluding that "the minds of the mentally ill are simply incomprehensible."
A key detail from another commenter: yuri shippers don't even read the game's story — they just pair up girls who have never even met each other. Someone else pointed out the anime adapts Main Story Vol.1, implying these yuri fans haven't even played the game and are just stirring trouble. The final comment was pure comedy gold: "If they make Sensei look like that cringe meme kid, it'll be the ultimate kill shot" — clearly having abandoned all hope for the anime's quality.
Blue Archive's anime hasn't even started production and the community is already a warzone. Suspect production quality, an escalating yuri controversy, and waifu purists in full battle mode — there's already enough drama here to fuel an entire season's worth of tea, and not a single frame has been animated yet.
