At the time, nobody knew which company he was referring to. Now, with this leak surfacing, the penny finally dropped: Brother Long was talking about Starline all along.
Netizens dug up a screenshot of Brother Long's original remarks as evidence:
"So Brother Long was pointing at them this whole time," one player marveled. Others piled on with a twist: "I thought he was talking about 'Lao Yu' (a nickname for the producer of Girls' Frontline 2) — sorry for the误会 (misunderstanding), buddy!" This suggests people had initially assumed the jab was aimed at MICA Team/Sunborn, the studio behind Girls' Frontline 2.
However, some players offered a more grounded take: although Girls' Frontline 2 flopped in reviews at launch, it still pulled in tens of millions of yuan in early revenue. "Yu Zhong's GFL2 may have bombed, but it's nowhere near 'can't pay wages' territory," one commenter noted — indirectly confirming that Starline's financial situation might be even worse than people imagined.
Perhaps most damning of all: players dug up that Fogwatch Sequence had promised players a 'February-March overhaul,' but internal employees were also hearing the same 'March' timeline.
