A suspected Sunborn (散爆) employee was caught on Tieba — China's equivalent of Reddit — arguing with players deep into the night to defend Girls' Frontline 2's controversial storyline. The drama turned out to be more entertaining than the game's main plot itself.
The incident unfolded after players on Tieba posted criticism about GFL2's story. A user suspected of being a Sunborn staff member appeared in the comments late at night, aggressively defending the game's narrative choices. In what became a legendary self-own, they attempted to compare GFL2's storytelling to "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" to justify the writing.

This instantly set off the NGA community. The most devastating comeback came from a user who asked: "Snow White is the protagonist of Snow White — so who's the protagonist of Girls' Frontline 2? Our dear 'Star Sister' (a popular NPC character)." The implication was sharp: GFL2's story seemingly revolves around NPCs rather than the player, making the Snow White comparison completely nonsensical.
Another user piled on with savage satire: "I can't even imagine what Snow White would look like if she were written like Star Sister — eight people partying in a bar while the prince watches through the peephole." The mental image was so vivid it turned the defense into a community meme.
Others pointed out that comparing a gacha game's story to a fairy tale was a textbook false equivalence — "this defense has zero skill behind it." Their advice for dealing with such people: "If you think there's no problem, go tell Yuzhong (Sunborn's CEO) to revert the changes. See if he's willing."
Even more explosive: NGA users dug into the defender's post history and found distinctive writing patterns (such as an unusual fondness for using the tilde ~ at the end of sentences). While the account didn't appear to be from the story/writing team specifically, the evidence strongly pointed to a Sunborn insider. Screenshots of the post history were provided as proof.

One commenter delivered the most cutting summary of the whole affair: "Some people are already looking for their next job, while others are up at midnight fighting battles for the boss." A single sentence that captured the possible internal turmoil at Sunborn.
To be fair, some players acknowledged that "ordinary players wouldn't really care about this." But given Sunborn's leadership's own sensitive public history, can you really blame the community for being on high alert?
As of now, the suspected employee's account has gone silent, and Sunborn has issued no official statement. This midnight showdown is destined to become yet another legendary chapter in the GFL2 community drama saga.
