Honor of Kings World Champion Cup FMVP Controversy Explodes: Carried Marksman Player Allegedly 'Steals' Finals MVP & Exclusive Skin — Community Dubs Him 'The Thief'

0 热度

The Honor of Kings World Champion Cup finals just wrapped up with a 4:2 score, and the jungler on the winning team was absolutely cracked — flashy plays all series long plus a clutch triple kill in the decisive game. The solo laner and mid laner also popped off. By any normal logic, the FMVP (Finals Most Valuable Player) should never go to the marksman position. But what happened next had the entire community up in arms.

Some context first: Honor of Kings hosts four major tournaments per year, but only a couple — including the World Champion Cup — grant the FMVP an exclusive in-game skin. The rules state that FMVP winners can only choose heroes they actually played during the tournament. Previously, champion Xiao Pang wanted to pick Luna but couldn't because he never used her, so he had to settle for Bat Tiger instead. This rule had been enforced for six or seven years, and no marksman had ever won FMVP — making 'the first marksman FMVP' a huge storyline. Yet this time, the organizers first force-gave marksman player Yinuo an in-game MVP, then handed him the FMVP too.

It gets even worse — Yinuo's team had already prepared a skin poster featuring Gongsunli, a hero that Yinuo didn't pick even ONCE during the entire World Champion Cup. Meanwhile, Gongsunli had solid pick and win rates throughout the tournament among other players.

When post-match stats dropped, Yinuo's marksman performance got absolutely bodied by the opposing team's ADC. Players dug up the receipts: Yinuo's FMVP-eligible heroes had only won a single game throughout all of 2023. Even more suspicious — trending topics promoting Yinuo's FMVP candidacy were being bought on December 27th, BEFORE the finals even happened.

The community immediately saw through it: this isn't just FMVP rigging — even the hero selection is being rigged. Some dug up that Yinuo is essentially the 'Crown Prince' (太子) of the scene — the tournament broadcast director's in-game ID used to literally be 'Yinuo's Little Princess.' One player sarcastically noted: 'Ziyang wanted to pick Da Qiao but was told she was banned all series and couldn't; Xiao Pang wanted Luna but wasn't allowed to pick her either. Only the Crown Prince can steal both the FMVP AND the hero choice.'

The comment section went absolutely nuclear. One top reply mocked: 'I checked the stats — among all marksman heroes, Gongsunli had a 9-1 record. If you're picking one marksman hero for the skin, it's obviously her! Oh wait, that 9-1 was from the OTHER team's marksman... never mind.' Another savagely reviewed the finals: 'Yinuo was clearly outperformed by teammates Changsheng, Xuanran, and Zhongyi. Besides that one Garen game, he had two carried losses, one carried win, and two games where he was just a tower-pushing bot. The organizers force-fed him FMVP for engagement — and it was genuinely ugly.'

The invasion of idol stan culture into esports was another hot topic. One player complained: 'His female fans are insane — today in one match, the solo laner clearly carried, but before MVP was announced his fans were dead-set insisting it was Yinuo's MVP.' Others noted that Yinuo (nicknamed 'Jin Zai') has a massive fanbase, and the organizers are copying the playbook from FIFA World Cup's Messi narrative and LoL Worlds' Faker storyline — forcing a 'veteran's dream comes true' arc.

Right now, aside from his stan fanbase, virtually the entire community has unanimously dubbed him 'The Thief' (偷子). This World Champion Cup — from rule changes to schedule manipulation to the FMVP fiasco — has severely damaged players' faith in the competitive integrity of Honor of Kings esports.
