Girls' Frontline 2 Character 95 Caught With Bait-and-Swap Accessories: Jade Pendant Becomes Lightning Bolt — Players Accuse Devs of Sneaking In 'Raymond' Easter Egg

0 热度

Her illustration shows an elegant traditional jade pendant, but her in-game 3D model rocks a Harry Potter-style lightning bolt necklace. Character 95 (Daiyan) in Girls' Frontline 2 just can't stop finding herself at the center of controversy — this time over a single accessory that doesn't match.

The whole thing started when eagle-eyed players compared character 95's official 2D artwork with her in-game 3D model, and spotted a baffling discrepancy:

In the illustration, 95 wears a classic Chinese jade pendant (玉佩) around her neck — perfectly in tune with her traditional Chinese aesthetic. But in the 3D model, that same spot features a prominent lightning bolt symbol instead. The original poster nailed it with a deadpan one-liner: "Guess it's an electric guzheng (zither) then."

Why would a single accessory swap cause such a firestorm? Because in the Girls' Frontline 2 community, the word 'thunder' (雷, léi) carries way more baggage than just weather. The game's controversial male NPC 'Raymond' (雷蒙) previously sparked massive backlash from players over his perceived romantic undertones with female characters — a wound that still hasn't healed.

So when that oddly placed lightning bolt was spotted on the model, players immediately lost it. One commenter cut straight to the point: "The model and illustration don't match. Raymond might not literally have 'thunder' in his surname, but the writers and artists are all Chinese" — implying this was no accident. Another was even blunter: "The illustration has no such accessory — just a plain jade pendant. The model deliberately swapped it to a lightning symbol. It reeks of something shady."

For those trying to play devil's advocate and say 'not everything thunder-related is about Raymond,' a user shot back with surgical precision: "Then please, explain to me what that lightning bolt actually means. Because the only thing I can think of is thunder."

Players even floated two chilling theories: Theory one — the model always had the lightning accessory, and after the Raymond controversy, the devs were too lazy to change the model and only edited the illustration to cover it up. Theory two — the jade pendant in the illustration was the original design, and the lightning bolt was deliberately added to the model later. As one commenter noted: "Wouldn't a jade pendant be way more fitting than a lightning bolt? If you showed these two accessories out of context, you'd think the lightning one was from Harry Potter."

The spicy takes kept coming. One user quipped: "I bet even if someone hung a used condom on her wrist, there'd still be simps insisting it has nothing to do with Raymond." And the mention of "reindeer antler patterns symbolizing female infidelity in Western culture" — while unrelated to the main drama — added an extra layer of absurdist conspiracy theory to the whole situation.

As of now, the developers have made zero official comment. Whether the accessory mismatch is an art team miscommunication or someone deliberately sneaking in personal motifs, only the devs know for sure. But one thing is crystal clear: in this post-Raymond-trauma era, players have their magnifying glasses out, and absolutely nothing related to 'thunder' (雷) is slipping through unnoticed.
