CCTV Officially Joins the 'Genshin, Launch!' Meme Train — Features Controversious Creator Men Jiang, Triggering a Full-Scale Raid by Outraged Fans

When a state-level media outlet starts memeing and the internet's most coordinated fan army takes it personally — you know things are about to get spicy.

CCTV recently posted content on its official social media accounts openly embracing the 'Genshin, Launch!' (原神启动) meme — the viral catchphrase that took Chinese internet by storm. Even more unexpectedly, they didn't just reference the meme; they actually featured Men Jiang, the original creator who made it famous.

The original poster shared the screenshots with a knowing nod: 'I see some familiar names' — a pointed reference to the 'Xian' community flooding the comment section. 'Xian' (仙) is a notorious faction within the Genshin Impact fanbase known for mass-coordinated raids and comment section takeovers across multiple platforms.

The real controversy centers on Men Jiang himself. Even before his rise to memehood, he was already problematic — caught on livestream hurling insults at working-class folks and known for going off on people the moment he gained any clout. One commenter put it bluntly: 'The guy literally trash-talked working people on stream and picks fights left and right. Someone with that kind of character has no business being featured by CCTV.'

Naturally, the 'Xian' army swarmed CCTV's comment section with dislikes and angry comments. But here's where it gets interesting — pushback emerged from other corners too. 'Huawei used the same meme and nobody said a word. So Huawei > CCTV now?' quipped one user, pointing out that the tech giant also milked the meme without facing any organized backlash. Others called out the hypocrisy: 'Didn't they meme about the Genshin streamer guy too? I thought this was a fun meme now — why are people suddenly pressed?'

Some commenters went full savage mode: 'Go ahead and call the cops then, their office is in Beijing, they're not going anywhere.' 'Why don't you dox CCTV while you're at it?' — mocking the 'Xian' community's reputation for keyboard warrior theatrics. Others brought up past tension between CCTV and the Genshin community: 'You guys don't actually think CCTV are the good guys, right? Who was it that said there's absolutely no room for backpedaling?'

As of now, the CCTV post is still up, and the 'Xian' raid shows no signs of slowing down. This bizarre spectacle of state media memeing hard while a fan army stages a full comment section siege — it's peak Chinese internet culture, and the finale is nowhere in sight.
