Tencent Poured 10 Billion Into Girls' Frontline 2 — Got a 'Mute Frontline' With Zero Voice Acting, Devs Blame Leakers

Tencent reportedly poured a whopping 10 billion yuan into Girls' Frontline 2 — and what players got at launch wasn't a AAA gacha experience, but a game so eerily silent they dubbed it 'Mute Frontline' (哑巴前线).

According to the original post, there's zero voice acting across the entire game — lobby, loadout screen, rest room, you name it. Ultimate skills play out against an embarrassingly plain black screen. Real-time cutscenes? Non-existent. Want to move your T-Dolls around in the lobby? Dream on. OP's verdict: the 3D models look decent, but that's literally it.

The comments section went scorched earth. Players pointed out you can't even preview skins on the main screen, clicking the lobby does nothing, and the 'interactive' rest room has a grand total of two animations — 'worse than Dead or Alive Xtreme,' one player quipped. Another roasted it by saying it can't even hold a candle to Bandai Namco's MLTD from six years ago.

"The lobby has zero interaction, the rest room has like two animations, and they had the audacity to market this as a core selling point? Absolute trash," one commenter fired off. Another broke it down: the lobby is essentially a real-time rendered CG backdrop — similar to how Princess Connect! Re:Dive plays story cutscenes on the home screen. The upside is it looks cinematic; the downside is total lack of interactivity. 'Ideally you should be able to choose between a live character and the CG.'

Then came the blame game — and it was pure comedy. Multiple players sarcastically blamed 'the leakers' (内鬼) for the missing voice lines and story content: 'If there were no leakers, we would've gotten full voice acting and Mr. Leimon's complete version half a month earlier. What a wonderful world that would've been.' This is clearly a tongue-in-cheek jab at the devs' alleged decision to gut voiced content after internal leaks sparked controversy. Others noted 'Mr. Leimon references are everywhere, impossible to clean up' — referencing the lingering fallout from the infamous 'Leimon' storyline scandal.

Even the one thing praised — the 3D models — sparked debate. OP called them the sole bright spot, but others pushed back hard: 'The polygon count is low, animations are stiff as a board — nothing like what a late-2023 gacha should deliver.' Someone confirmed the poly count is actually high, but the final verdict still landed at: 'Everything except the models is garbage.' When the models are the best thing about your game and even those are debatable, that's... a rough look.

One commenter delivered the killing blow: 'I feel bad for Tencent. Some studios take Tencent money and make GOTY contenders. Others make... Mute Frontline. Hard to judge.' Ten billion yuan from Tencent's war chest, and the community's verdict is 'Mute Frontline' — yeah, that's tough to argue with.
