Recently, 'Artery Gear' sparked controversy with a clever but controversial balancing tactic. It began on August 3rd when the developers updated the skill text for certain characters, while leaving the actual in-game effects unchanged. Then, on September 4th, they updated the actual effects to match the new, nerfed text, effectively stripping the low-tier character 'Xiao Wo' of its unique sustained dispel ability.

Players viewed Xiao Wo as a crucial niche unit—specifically, a 'counterplay character' capable of providing 20 seconds of sustained dispelling to negate stacking debuffs like damage vulnerability and blood loss. This change rendered the character essentially useless for its intended purpose, and the lack of resource compensation initially felt like a slap in the face to players who had invested materials.

Facing significant backlash, the developers responded quickly. They first promised compensation, then issued a formal apology and provided more generous gifts to quell the community's frustration over the 'two-step' nerf.

Players were stunned by the 'modify text first, then nerf' maneuver. Many veteran gamers sarcastically called it a 'classic developer trick,' with some noting it’s a tactic long used by giants like Blizzard. Others pointed out that attempting to curb power creep by essentially deleting a character's utility is a terrible way to handle player trust.
