Onmyoji Artbook Controversy: Limited-Time Refund Sparks Community Outrage

0 热度

Recently, the official artbook for 'Onmyoji' began shipping, but recipients immediately started reporting major quality control issues. Players found numerous typos and, more importantly, severe lore contradictions—a phenomenon known as 'chi shu' (literally 'eating books,' or retconning/disregarding established canon) that makes the book clash with in-game lore.

In response to the backlash, the developer opened a 'limited-time refund window.' This move backfired, with many feeling the developer is just trying to force players to keep the faulty copies if they aren't quick enough to apply for a refund.

In the community, players mocked the merchandise department for being repeat offenders, with some labeling it as another instance of 'illegal crowdfunding'—a term used by Chinese fans to describe lackluster, overpriced merchandise. Fans pointed out blatant typos, such as miswriting a specific item name, and slammed the team for their lack of basic editorial standards.

Long-term players noted that the developer has a recurring habit of issuing superficial apologies for their merchandise blunders, only to continue making the same mistakes later. Some fans have taken it upon themselves to conduct a full review of the book, promising a comprehensive list of errors to hold the team accountable.
