During the recent Summer Game Fest, it was officially announced that Honkai: Star Rail will launch on PlayStation 5 in Q4 of this year. However, the reaction from the player base was lukewarm at best, with many complaining: 'This is way too slow!'

The community response has been mixed. Some are worried that the upcoming title Zenless Zone Zero might face similar delays. Skeptics suggest that a Q4 launch might leave Sony disappointed, as by then, highly anticipated characters like Kafka, Fu Xuan, and Jingliu will have already finished their initial release banners, missing the hype peak. Regarding confusion over 'content gap' or 'progression lag', veteran players clarified that since it's cross-platform, progress is synced, so there’s no such thing as being 'a year behind'.
The partnership has also drawn cynical comments, with some users suggesting this is merely a paid advertisement—essentially Hoyoverse just 'giving money to Sony'. Others pointed out that Sony is desperate to push PS5 hardware, intentionally skipping a PS4 release despite the game being light enough to run on last-gen hardware with ease.
