New Drama: Are Censored 'Mainland China Special' Artworks Leaking into the Global Server of 'Echoes of Azure'?

0 热度

The newly released Hong Kong/Taiwan server of the anime-style mobile game 'Echoes of Azure' has sparked controversy. Players who signed up expecting high-quality 'fanservice' were met with lackluster character art, with some users criticizing the awkward anatomy and unnatural poses, sarcastically comparing them to low-quality AI-generated images.

The real drama, however, stems from the discovery of what looks like 'Censored Mainland China Special' versions of certain artworks. While some characters enjoy revealing outfits, others feature strange, out-of-place lace or 'coverage' overlays, a classic technique used to comply with strict content regulations in mainland China.

The community is not pleased. Many argue that if these are indeed assets prepared for a future mainland release, the 'nerfing' of the designs—such as adding layers to cover the chest—is jarring and ruins the artistic integrity. Others pointed out that the game's outdated aesthetic and frustrating character pull rates contribute to a general sentiment that the title is heading toward a swift demise regardless of censorship.
