A dramatic controversy recently unfolded in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel DC Cup, a major competitive event. Amidst a meta dominated by Runick and Branded Despia decks, a Chinese player unexpectedly reached the #1 spot using a niche 'Exosister' deck, earning the prestigious gold avatar reward.

Given that the deck is highly dependent on going first and struggles with board-breaking, many players were skeptical of how he maintained such a high score. After facing accusations from Japanese players, he released a video insisting on his innocence. However, an hour later, the developer released an official notice confirming the removal of several cheating players, including him. His subsequent reaction has been widely mocked by the community as a 'Lu Ben Wei-style denial'—a reference to a famous Chinese streamer known for vehemently denying cheating despite being caught red-handed.

The community was baffled: how do you cheat in a card game? Veteran players pointed out that common exploits in the past included 'always going first' hacks or even scripts that could modify deck card counts, proving that some players will resort to anything to win.
