Deep Dive into the Collapse of 'Xie Shen Zhe': From Massive Script Changes to the Infamous 'Ghostly Music' Scandal

0 热度

Mentioning 'Xie Shen Zhe' often triggers memories of a game that started with potential but ended up in a death spiral. Initially gaining some grace for its willingness to rewrite unpopular story segments and offer generous compensation, the honeymoon phase between the developers and players was short-lived, leading to a legendary reputation collapse.

The most infamous incident was the 'Ghostly Music' (陰樂) event. The developers introduced music from a so-called 'master' that sounded like tortured wailing, which players found unbearable. To make matters worse, the producer reportedly made sarcastic remarks towards those who disliked the music, further antagonizing the community.

The numerical design was equally disastrous. Players criticized the designers for an apparent lack of professional experience, creating gear (Yuhun) that provided 'exponential' buffs to outdated characters, rendering progression chaotic. Coupled with a deceptive 'mixed gacha' system where players pulled for shards rather than usable units, the game's grindy nature was mocked as a '2D-style Legend (MMO) clone'.

Narratively, the game swung from one extreme to another: from a submissive protagonist to female characters acting as 'brainwashed sycophants' who obsessively fawned over the male lead upon first sight. With convoluted lore and nonsensical plot progression, the player base quickly drained, leaving the game in a state of suspended animation.
