Genshin-style Controversy: 'Aether Gazer' Producer Pressure and Community Backlash over Narrative Bait-and-Switch

0 热度

Recently, the mobile game 'Aether Gazer' (Qiannian Zhilv) sparked controversy. The original poster was pressured by associates of the producer for 'creating drama' through criticism, ultimately forcing them to delete their posts and leave the discussion. This incident fueled community anger regarding the developer's intolerance for negative feedback.

In the comments, users exposed what they call a 'bait-and-switch' marketing tactic: despite promoting the game as 'ML' (Master Love, focused on protagonist-romance), the in-game narrative frequently bundles characters Anjie and Mia together, leaving almost no room for the player to have one-on-one moments. Critics argue the developers are trying to appeal to both romance-seeking players and Yuri/GL (Girls' Love) fans simultaneously, effectively angering both groups.

Regarding the prospect of 'attracting Yuri fans' (often colloquially called 'He-tun' in Chinese community slang), the consensus is dismissive. Players point out that the game forces a male protagonist perspective, which is fundamentally incompatible with the core preferences of the GL audience. Some veteran players drew parallels to the early 'Captain' identity issues in 'Honkai Impact 3rd,' arguing that the developers are repeating historical mistakes by creating narrative confusion that insults the player's investment.
