Controversy Surrounding Romance Mobile Game 'Zero Era': NTR Plot and Yuri Marketing Sparks Backlash

0 热度

Recently, the mobile romance game 'Zero Era' (known as 'Singularity Story' in the Taiwan server) has sparked a massive debate among its player base. The core of the controversy lies in its problematic prologue: the protagonist works hard to fund his girlfriend's overseas studies, only for her to return with a wealthy second-generation heir, mock the protagonist for lacking ambition, and dismiss his sacrifices.

Beyond the frustrating NTR (a common term for partner-betrayal in anime culture) plot, the official marketing’s ambiguous hints toward 'yuri' (lesbian) content have also alienated the core audience. Players are questioning why a gacha-based game, which relies on emotional investment, would force its users into such a humiliating narrative position. Several promotional images have circulated as evidence of the developer's questionable direction.

Community reactions are sharply divided. Supporters argue this is just a 'classic web-novel trope' (similar to 'triumphant return' stories where a hero rises from rock bottom). Opponents, however, argue that such settings are completely inappropriate for romance games, suggesting the developers might be resorting to 'black marketing' (intentional controversy to drive traffic). One netizen pointedly noted: 'Designing NTR plots in a game meant for companionship is practically begging players to uninstall.'
