Heavy Handed! HoYoverse Files Court Subpoena Against Twitter to Track Down Leakers

HoYoverse has taken a significant step in its campaign against game content leaks. According to recently surfaced legal documents, the company, via its overseas publishing arm Cognosphere Pte Ltd, has filed a subpoena with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, compelling Twitter to assist in their investigation.

The subpoena specifically targets several prominent 'leakers' (community slang for individuals who illegally obtain and release unreleased game assets)—including accounts like 'XWides,' 'Merlin Impact,' and 'Genshin World.' The company is demanding that Twitter turn over the personal data of these operators, including phone numbers, emails, names, IP addresses, and physical locations.

The community response has been polarized yet supportive of the developer. Many hardcore fans expressed strong approval, claiming it was 'about time' these leakers were dealt with, as they ruin the excitement for new releases.
