FGO Controversy: The Joan and the 'Anti-Climax' Summoning Cycle

0 热度

Recently, a player shared an image on the NGA forums, asking if it originated from FGO. The art style of the character sparked an immediate debate among the community.

The community's response was mixed. Some joked that the art style looked straight out of the comedy manga 'Chronicles of the Going-Home Club' (A satirical gag manga). Others pointed out that while Joan's 3D model looks decent, her Noble Phantasm (special move animation) feels lazy, disappointing players who expected higher quality for 2023. More analytical players argued that this medieval aesthetic was intentional, intended to mirror historical depictions rather than a genuine drop in design standards.

The real source of the drama, however, is the plot's inconsistency. Players mocked the developers for a narrative contradiction: the main story recently forced a conflict where 'Human History' demands players prove their loyalty because they have summoned too many 'Extra Class' servants—characters that aren't supposed to exist in the standard timeline. Yet, immediately after the plot established that these characters are now forbidden, the game released Joan—who belongs to that exact restricted class—in a new gacha banner. The irony of being told not to summon these characters in the story, while simultaneously being urged to pay for them in the shop, has left the player base in disbelief.
