The English voice-acting community for Genshin Impact has been rocked by scandal. Elliot Gindi, the English VA for the character Tighnari, has been accused of sexual harassment against fans and colleagues, with reports circulating rapidly across social media.
Gindi issued an apology post, admitting to several of the allegations. He confirmed the authenticity of the cringy sexual chat logs and confessed to threatening suicide if his behavior was exposed, an admission that has sparked widespread outrage.
In his attempt at damage control, he denied allegations regarding underage misconduct and disrespect toward gender pronouns, also claiming his decision to stream in his underwear was not sexually motivated. These excuses have done little to appease fans and the victims.
The news has caused a stir in the Chinese community. Many fans expressed extreme disgust at how he targeted his own fans, with some questioning his qualifications and the standards for English localization voice work.
