Blizzard Considers Subscription Model for Hearthstone? New Survey Sparks Community Debate

0 热度

Blizzard has recently sent a survey to select international Hearthstone players, gathering feedback on potential future updates. After the details were leaked on Reddit, the proposals regarding a 'subscription model' caused a massive stir in the community.

The proposed models are quite aggressive: a $10 monthly fee to rent all cards (excluding the current set), $10 for three 'high win-rate' pre-constructed decks, or $10-$20 a month to unlock access to all cards for specific or all classes in Standard mode. The survey also floated ideas like a standalone Battlegrounds client and console ports. Many speculate that Blizzard is desperate for new revenue streams following their market exit in China.

Community reactions have been polarized. Critics argue this isn't a buy-to-play model but rather a form of 'forced subscription'—if you stop paying, your account progress and collection effectively vanish. Others claim this is a way to 'purify' the player base by squeezing every cent out of the remaining players. Furthermore, when compared to the value of services like XGP, many users mocked Blizzard's immense self-confidence in pricing their aging title so aggressively.
