[Gossip] Even Big Industry Backing Couldn't Save It: Otome Game 'The Last Label' Shut Down

0 热度

Recently, bad news hit the otome gaming community: 'The Last Label,' a rhythm game project touted as being backed by industry titans like Tencent, HoYoverse, Hypergryph, and Yostar, and led by a former executive from Infold Games (Papergames), has officially shut down after two years of hype.

The project was a massive money sink, featuring a '12 male rappers saving the world' premise. It boasted an all-star voice acting cast, including Lu Zhao and Peng Bo, and even produced individual radio dramas for each character. However, despite the high production values, the game—described by netizens as a 'stitching' of various trends—has been canceled before it could truly launch.

Community reactions were mixed but generally expected. Many felt that binding virtual characters to real-world rappers (who are notoriously high-risk individuals in the Chinese entertainment industry) was a recipe for disaster. Others mocked the project, suggesting that having too many investors (the 'big company buff') actually doomed it. Meanwhile, some hardcore fans were left heartbroken, having specifically looked forward to hearing their favorite voice actors in these roles.
