Live-Action Otome Game 'Project Sea' Crashes Immediately After Reveal Due to Scandal

0 热度

Recently, the live-action otome mobile game 'Project Sea' (Code: Hai) collapsed shortly after its initial announcement. For otome fans who cherish fictional characters (often called 'paper people' or '2D husbando'), the sudden transition to live-action actors has been met with shock and confusion.

The controversy centers on the actors portraying the male leads. Players discovered the actors had existing girlfriends or 'shipping' partners. While some defenders claimed they were merely friends, the situation escalated when the developers issued a statement claiming a two-year-long public relationship was actually just a 'business collaboration' from six months ago. Players felt insulted by this contradictory explanation.

In response to the backlash, the official support group began 'mass-deleting messages' to control the narrative—a tactic common in toxic fan circles (referred to as 'fanquan'). This attempt to silence critics only fueled the fire.

Additionally, users identified the project head as the same person previously in charge of 'Flower Fairy', which further eroded community trust.

The community reacted with mockery, calling the game 'Code: Sea King' (a slang term for a serial cheater). Others questioned the blurry line between dating a character versus dating an actual actor, with many expressing that the aesthetic choices were simply 'traumatizing'.
