Within half a day of the launch of *Summon & Merge 2*, controversy erupted over 'deceptive monetization' regarding artifact stats. Facing backlash, the developer finally released an emergency maintenance announcement. They attempted to defend themselves using SVN commit screenshots, claiming that the artifacts players complained about—where spending over 2,000 RMB only boosted efficiency by 30% with a five-year recovery period—were not intentional nerfs, but 'display bugs' caused by 'calculation errors'.

To pacify the crowd, the developer promised to revert stats to their initial launch values and add a 1%–30% bonus. However, they refused to provide any compensation, arguing that because the values were now 'significantly improved,' the matter was settled. This completely ignores the losses incurred by big spenders who invested early. Calculations show that even with these adjustments, it would take roughly three months just to break even from the losses suffered during the initial period.

What infuriated players even more was the developer's blatant cherry-picking of which issues to address. The announcement completely ignored 'attack speed' artifacts. Observant players noted these items have similar stat issues, but because fewer people spent money on them, they didn't generate enough community noise for the developer to care. This 'if you don't make enough noise, we ignore you' approach has completely backfired.

The community response has been overwhelmingly negative. Players are complaining about the boring gameplay and deep pay-to-win progression systems. Many pointed out the 'wholesome/generous' marketing blitz at launch was a massive red flag, concluding that the 'generosity' was merely a marketing gimmick to hide deep-seated issues, with the biggest victims ultimately being the players who paid for the game.
