The Japanese server of 'Uma Musume' is currently facing a massive community outcry following its 1.5th-anniversary update. The center of the controversy is the new 'stat cap increase' mechanism: while the speed stat limit was raised from 1200 to 1600, Cygames implemented an incredibly harsh and confusing diminishing returns formula.

Data miners discovered that the effectiveness of stats between 1200 and 1600 is halved, making a 1600-stat character perform as if they only had 1250. Players have mocked the update, stating: 'This isn't an upgrade; it's a downgrade. It's like paying for a Maserati and getting a used budget car.'
What’s worse, players pulled heavily on the new featured card banners designed for this scenario, only to find that the new scenario produces weaker horses than the previous 'Peak Cup' scenario, despite significantly higher resource investment. This 'power regression' has infuriated whales and F2P players alike, who feel betrayed by the developer, leading to a state of total chaos within the community.

In the comment sections, users are noting that Japanese players have already ignited a firestorm on Twitter. The community is now watching to see if Cygames will 'panic' and issue a hotfix to adjust the numbers. For a competitive, gacha-heavy title, such a fundamental flaw in stat scaling is being viewed by many as a catastrophic management error.
