Activision Blizzard Q2 Earnings Report: Mobile Revenue Surpasses Console and PC Combined

0 热度

Activision Blizzard's Q2 2022 financial report has unveiled an irreversible trend: the former king of PC and console gaming is transforming into a mobile-first giant. The data shows mobile revenue reached $831 million, accounting for 50.5% of total revenue—surpassing the combined total of its PC and console businesses.

Within these results, the King studio remains the primary engine, contributing roughly 82% of mobile revenue. Meanwhile, the controversial yet highly lucrative 'Diablo Immortal' has played a pivotal role, driving a 462% year-over-year increase in Blizzard's mobile earnings. In contrast, traditional PC and console segments have seen their revenues cut nearly in half.

CEO Bobby Kotick confirmed in the report that the company intends to double down on mobile gaming and advertising. In response, community members sarcastically remarked, 'It's not that Blizzard is dead; it's just the broke "Bao-bai" (a derogatory term for die-hard Blizzard fans who lack spending power) who are finished.' Many players believe this signals a strategic shift to push away traditional gamers in favor of mobile whales.

In the comment threads, many users jokingly wished for a 'permanent lock-in' between NetEase and Blizzard, though news of their partnership dissolution sparked heated debates about corporate betrayal and market shifts. Fans seem resigned to the reality that the future of the industry may truly belong to mobile.
