The international version of Honor of Kings has entered beta testing in Mexico, sparking heated debates among the core Chinese community. The most controversial change is the removal of classic 'Journey to the West' characters, such as Zhu Bajie and the Bull Demon, to accommodate local religious sensitivities (specifically Islamic and Hindu taboos). Their kits have been swapped with heroes from the existing international counterpart, 'Arena of Valor' (AoV), such as Ata.

Furthermore, body models for 'loli' (young girl) characters have been altered to align with Western aesthetic expectations, leading fans to sarcastically comment that 'Xiao Qiao has to grow up now.' Many users find these changes cringe-worthy, feeling that the game is losing its identity.

In the community discussion, many players criticized Tencent—the world’s highest-grossing game developer—for acting subserviently in their global expansion. They argue that compromising their own intellectual property to appease every cultural taboo makes the company look desperate, or as one user put it, 'begging on their knees,' ultimately undermining the game's original artistic integrity.
